The death of 18-year-old Casey Amos has brought together Page County residents in mourning.

Casey was killed Monday in a crash on Route 340. Friends and family choose to remember Casey as an intelligent young man, who was full of promise.

Friends of Casey have took their thoughts to the fence at Page County High School, proving something as simple as a Styrofoam cup could mean so much in such a display.

"The outpouring you get is just unbelievable. I can't say enough about the people from [Page County] that know us and knew Casey," says Tracy Amos, Casey's father.

At the family's Stanley home, neighbors started arriving after the crash. More than a day later, they have not stopped coming. They came with meals and armfuls of sincere sympathies.

"I don't ever think he took anything that wasn't his or that he didn't deserve and people always reached out to him," says Tracy. "He was just, he was just such a great kid."

Monday night, Casey's car swerved off Route 340 near Anne Street, just south of the town of Shenandoah. His girlfriend, Haley Nauman, was sitting in the passenger's seat and survived.

Police initially said Casey was not wearing a seat belt but later determined both he and Nauman were restrained.

"You try to raise as best you can, but that kid was like a sponge. It seemed like whatever you told him, it stuck," says Tracy.

Casey was headed to Bridgewater College in the fall to play football, just as he did at Page County High School.

"There are more important issues here than what he could have been for us (Bridgewater College) as an athlete, though we will miss that and regret that and certainly will try and support his parents in any way we can," says Bridgewater Head Football Coach Mike Clark.

Those who knew Casey best say he had so much potential.

"You know, you don't want to talk about your own kid but you'd never ask for a better kid. You never could," says Tracy.

Tracy says Nauman has been released from the hospital where she was treated for scrapes and bruises.

Casey was a great person. He was a great influence. He probably dosent know this but he was a great friend of mine who i looked up to a lot. He always made great decisions and i will remember him forever. I hope that i can b like Casey and look at everything in a positive way. Not be judgmental. Most of all i hope that i can be as nice s everybody. I will definitely take Lisa's challenge and do it with a happy heart because that's what Casey would have wanted. I am so glad that God blessed me with a friend that i could look up to and and truly want to fallow their footsteps because they were a great influence... i know i keep on talking but i will keep you all in my prayers and i will use Casey's life as a remodel in my own even know he is not here in person he is here in our hearts! I love you Corey,Lisa and Tracy.
