The Fourth of July holiday was a busy weekend for law enforcement as they investigated numerous fireworks violations.

Rockingham County reported 15 violations, with two people charged. Augusta county had 13 violations, but no one was charged. Harrisonburg Police took 18 calls about illegal fireworks. Some of those were found to be violations, and three people were charged. Staunton had 13 violations, with no charges.

For most of the violations, law enforcement agencies chose to confiscate the illegal fireworks instead of bringing charges against the participants.

Some vehicles at a Park and Ride location along U.S. Highway 211 in Page County were damaged last week. Four vehicles had their windows broken, and more than $1,000 worth of items were stolen from inside.

Rockingham County Deputies say someone cut open a screen door on Maple Avenue in Timberville Sunday and stole hundreds of dollars in cash and some prescription drugs from inside the home.

Harrisonburg Police are reporting two break-ins at construction sites. Some tools and dry wall were taken from a work site on South High Street over the weekend, and a car window was broken at a site on Port Republic Road Monday night.

Staunton Police are investigating some gang-related graffiti. It was found on Statler Boulevard Saturday, and it referred to the Bloods and Crips gangs.

Deputies in Augusta County are looking for a stolen dog. An Alaskan malamute was taken from a home on Fairmont Drive in Fishersville Tuesday.

A golden retriever has been stolen from a home in Shenandoah County. Deputies say the dog was taken last week from Georgetown Road in Mount Jackson.
