Veterans are traveling across West Virginia to record the stories of women known as Rosie the Riveter.

They are among women across the country who did defense work on the homefront during World War II.

The project was organized by Thanks! Plain and Simple, a nonprofit group that helps veterans use their skills to benefit their communities.

John Haulotte, the project's lead veteran, says the group hopes to raise funds to produce a documentary and a book from the stories being collected. He says West Virginia's Rosies are 84 or older and this could be the last opportunity to gather their stories.
