Airport Security

The government is stepping in to protect passengers at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport.

A federal security team visited the Valley Tuesday morning.

By mid-November, they plan to bring in federal employees to man passenger checkpoints.

The new positions will be funded by the security tax you now pay on airline tickets.

More than 100 airports nationwide will see improvements, including Richmond International, which will get a new explosive detection machine.
