The plant will be closing for reasons of efficiency and competition.
The Harrisonburg plant has around 400-employees. Most will shift to the Hinton plant. A third shift will be added there to accommodate them.
According to spokesman Ray Atkinson, 50-hourly employees and 11-salaried and clerical employees will not make the move to Hinton, but he hopes other arrangements can be made.
"We expect to be able to find jobs for the 50-hourly employees," said Ray Atkinson of Pilgrim's Pride. "We're going to work to find jobs for the other people that are effected as well."
For those employees that will make the switch to Hinton, Atkinson says the company is looking into ways to transport those employees to the plant.
The Harrisonburg plant will close by October.
