Five Berryville residents are applying for the position left by town councilwoman Gail Smith.

Five Berryville residents are applying for the position left by town councilwoman Gail Smith.

Friday was the deadline for Ward four residents to apply for the position.

The personnel committee will meet next week and make a recommendation to the town council on filling the seat.

The council will then appoint a resident to fill the vacancy.

Smith was found dead in her home July 30 after serving on the town council for a year.
