The WHSV TV-3 building was evacuated shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday, after an employee reported smelling natural gas.
The Harrisonburg Fire Department responded to the television station on North Main Street. Crews searched the building and roof for the source of the potential leak, but they later determined it was a false alarm.
According to Harrisonburg Fire Department Safety Officer Wanda Willis, roads were closed to pedestrians and traffic on Main Street from Court Square to Elizabeth Street and Federal Street from East Market Street to Elizabeth Street for nearly 15 minutes.
Employees were allowed back inside the building around 11:30 a.m.
