The newest member is named Boss. He's a black Labrador retriever and it's only his second day on the job.

Boss has extensive training in sniffing out narcotics and search and rescue.

Handler Herbert Kite says that's what the dog's man duty will be.

"Every year we have a couple of missing hikers, missing bikers, small children that come up missing. So hopefully he can help expedite out searches a lot quicker," says Kite.

Great Eastern Resort and a State Farm Insurance agent paid the $5,500 price tag for Boss and Food Lion has agreed to donate the dog's food as long as he's a member of the force.
