Police say they have NO physical evidence to suggest that Richard Marc Evonitz was responsible for any Virginia slayings besides the three for which he's being investigated.

Major Howard Smith of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said in an online chat sponsored by The Free Lance-Star Thursday that authorities will analyze all evidence before announcing whether they believe Evonitz killed 16-year-old Sofia Silva and two sisters, 15-year-old Kristin and 12-year-old Kati Lisk, in 1996 and 1997.

Smith says an announcement should come "within the next few weeks."

Evonitz became the prime suspect in the three murders after he allegedly abducted and raped a 15-year-old girl in South Carolina in June. She escaped and he shot himself three days later in Florida as police were about to arrest him.

Major Smith says they have NO evidence linking Evonitz to the 1996 abduction and slaying of Alicia Showalter Reynolds near Culpeper.
