Federal, state and local law enforcement officers are collaborating to solve the killings of two Virginia Tech students in a national forest.
Montgomery County Sheriff's Lt. Norman Croy said Friday the task force began work Wednesday in the deaths of 19-year-old David Lee Metzler and 18-year-old Heidi Lynn Childs.
A passer-by found the couple's bodies August 27 at a Jefferson National Forest campground about 15 miles from campus. Croy says they were shot to death.
Croy says the task force includes the FBI, the U.S. Forest Service and Virginia State Police. Virginia Tech police also are included because the victims were students.
