The Friendly City Food Co-op in Harrisonburg has picked out a location, but it's not announcing just where that will be until the lease is signed.
The Co-op is now doing what it's calling a "big push" to get funding for the building.
The group has almost 600 members and it's trying to get 400 more in the coming months.
Members say their biggest source of funds will come from member loans.
"Really it's more, it's just a key part of how we're going to be able to start the business. We won't be able to start the business without these investments from members," says Ben Sandel, president of the Friendly City Food Co-op Board.
The Co-op says members will receive a small return on their investment. It also wants to emphasize that no matter how much members invest, each member will have a single share and single vote in the company.
