One former volunteer firefighter pleaded guilty to arson charges in Shenandoah County Wednesday.

Ryan Sullivan admitted to intentionally setting fires in Shenandoah and Rockingham counties. He was a volunteer firefighter with the New Market Fire Company.

Another former volunteer firefighter, Michael Bell, is also accused of setting fires.

Bell appeared in Shenandoah County Circuit Court Wednesday morning for a pre-trial hearing on eight arson charges.

Judge Dennis Hupp granted Bell's attorney's request for a continuance to outline details of restitution statements.

Bell is reportedly working on a plea agreement.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
