A rare broadside printing of America's Declaration of Independence soon will go on display at the Yorktown Victory Center.

The printing dates to July 1776 and was acquired with money provided by a private foundation of the center that celebrates the nation's colonial past and the American Revolution.

It will go on display October 1.

The document measures 17 by 11-7/8 inches. It was printed in Boston soon after the declaration was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, and before a handwritten copy was signed by members of Congress.

Officials say it will be a cornerstone of a planned new 80,000-square-foot building that will replace the center, which opened in 1976.
