A teen-ager charged with orchestrating the murder of her father will remain in jail until her October trial.
A Loudoun County Circuit court judge made the decision after several relatives of 19-year-old Clara Schwartz submitted a letter to the court saying she might harm herself or them if she were freed.
Schwartz has been jailed since February first on murder charges. Court documents show her friend, 18-year-old-year Kyle Hulbert, told police that he slashed and stabbed Robert Schwartz with a 27-inch sword last December because he wanted to protect Clara from her father's alleged abuse. The slaying of the prominent biophysicist had overtones of witchcraft and the occult.
Clara Schwartz goes on trial Oct. 7.
