Businesses in Waynesboro are going to have to go without funding they have hoped for. The Virginia Department of Emergency Management has refused to fund flood proofing for downtown businesses.
Waynesboro became eligible for funding after Hurricane Isabel dumped about 20 inches of rain on the city. The flooding damaged and destroyed a number of homes and businesses.
"If somebody could come up with a plan that says here it is, you will never be flooded again, I'm on board," says Tim Spears, owner of Music First in Waynesboro.
The city is hopeful they will receive funding that will pay for residential flood proofing.
