The First Tee program received $55,000 from the Harrisonburg Rotary Club for a golf center.
First Tee is a program that teaches children basic golf skills, along with nutrition, fitness, and life skills. Currently the program meets at Heritage Oaks Golf Course. But Monday’s donation has jumped started the effort to get First Tee a space of its own.
“We are really more so at the beginning of the stages to fund raise for this facility, we have been at it for a couple of months now but we still have a good ways to go but this is a good way to start, $55,000 is incredible," said Allison Graham, coordinator for First Tee.
The program is for children ages 5 to 17. Anyone wishing to get involved should call the Heritage Oaks Golf Center.
