One Valley community is doing what it can to put children first, by protecting them from injury.
On Monday night, the Waynesboro City Council unanimously approved an ordinance requiring all children under age 15 to wear helmets while on a bike.
Police have already gotten some helmet donations, and are working to get more. The city's police chief says officers will have helmets in their cars to give to kids who are seen riding their bikes without one.
Parents could face a fine of up to $25 if their child is found riding a bike without a helmet.
