Students are at the top of the agenda for Creigh Deeds, the democratic gubernatorial candidate from Bath County.
Earlier Tuesday morning, he was touring Shenandoah University. Tuesday afternoon, he'll be at James Madison University.
Deeds will speak about higher education at JMU, where the Dukes for Deeds will be rallying around him.
Higher education is a speaking point for Deeds. He says he'll increase access to higher education by creating 70,000 new degrees in ten years.
He will be joined by Harrisonburg Mayor Kai Degner in the Festival Conference Center. Democratic students are looking forward to Deeds' presence on campus.
Junior Ryan Ramirez says, "It'll probably be Deeds [who wins], because I remember Harrisonburg went pretty Democrat[ic] during the presidential elections, a nice little blue dot in all the red. So I have a feeling that most people on campus would support Deeds, depending on whether or not they know about him."
Although there's an effort to further Deed's potential policy, new Associated Press Poll numbers show the GOP candidates for the November election are up ten percent over their democratic opponent, 55 percent to 45 percent.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell will speak to veterans Tuesday night, alongside his daughter, an Iraq War veteran.
