President's Day is a chance for stores to clear out winter items and make way for spring fashions. One way they do that every year is with major markdowns. Sales were in full swing at the Valley Mall, but you wouldn't know it by the lack of crowds. Shoppers say the stores weren't very busy. "The stores look emptier than usual, I think they're more bare than normal," says Diane Jimenez. "It's very peaceful, it's fun, we're on a little vacation, and we're seeing a lot of good sales," says Karen Murray. Despite the slow foot traffic, retailers at the mall say today is traditionally one of the best sales days after Christmas.
