A man who crashed his truck into a home in Stanley is in critical condition.

The crash happened at the intersection of Leakesville and Boston roads Saturday afternoon.

The driver, Rick Pettit, remains at the University of Virginia Medical Center in critical condition.

His brother, Terry Pettit, say Rick suffered a torn aorta and was bleeding inside his body. Doctors have repaired his aorta, and stopped the bleeding.

Rick also suffered some broken bones, including vertebrae in his neck.

Police say Rick suffered from a previous medical condition, which likely caused him to crash his truck. There is no word at this time on any charges.
