The Harrisonburg School Board discussed the demands that the influx of ESL students has placed on the school system.
The ESL processing center located in a trailer behind Harrisonburg High School has already processed 28 students in the four weeks it has been open. The board decided they want to send board member Dr. Cathy Slusher to meet with the city council. She hopes to present to them the kind of challenges the ESL students pose to the school system.
"We would hope they will accept our invitation to hear from Dr. Slusher," says board member Thomas Mendez. Harrisonburg has the highest number of ESL students in the state.
