The flu has kept a lot of kids home in Page County, but there is some good news.

According to school administrators at Page County High School, student absences are starting to drop.

Both Luray and Page County high schools showed higher-than-usual levels of absences Tuesday. At Luray High School Tuesday, just over 22 percent of students either called in sick or went home sick.

Absences at Page County High School dropped from 77 Tuesday to 69 Wednesday.

Exactly link the user above me said. Even if our students aren't well they are still coming back. I am a PCHS student and with block scheduling you can't afford to miss to many days without having a huge chunk of work to make up. We are now recieving papers to take the shot for Swine Flu. I have heard we have 7 students at our high school with it. 3 seniors and a 9th grader, the other 3 I am not sure about what grades. Though they can't shut the school down for just a few days to clean the school and try to stop the spreading of S1N1. It's stupid how this county works at times. The schools need to be shut down, cleaned, and then reopened for us students to return in a more safe[[healthy]] enviroment.

My question is why are they still allowing kids to go to school knowing that they have a huge virus that is nothing to mess with going around. If they care about there school n student then they would close all schools to allow them to sanatize all areas of the school to try to kill the germs that aready there. Why cont with schol when over half of the students are out sick !?

I agree the kids are going back to school sick and reinfecting others. With block scheduling they cannot afford to miss a week of school. Hopefully, they will disinfect the school this weekend!
