Eight Pagans Motorcycle Club bikers have pleaded not guilty to charges in a sweeping federal racketeering indictment.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Mary Stanley ordered three of the men released on bond Wednesday. Court records show she ordered five others held pending hearings.

All are charged in a 44-count indictment that portrays the Pagans as a sprawling organization engaged in kidnapping, robbery, extortion, conspiracy to commit murder and other crimes in an effort to be the pre-eminent biker gang in the eastern United States.

In all, 55 Pagans and associates from West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Florida face charges. Their trial is scheduled for December 15.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
