Two men have been sentenced to more than four years in prison in a plot to steal money from their former employer.

Forty-one-year-old Akinyeme Bamisaiye of Clarksville and 49-year-old Sajjad Nazar Mahar of Kearneysville, West Virginia also had a forfeiture order of more than $1.3 million entered at sentencing.

According to court documents, Bamisaiye was the controller, and Mahar was the general manager, of a Silver Spring country club. The two created fake employees and kept former employees on the payroll.

Bamisaiye and Mahar deposited many of the payroll checks into their personal accounts.
