Thanks to a federal grant, the city of Staunton could soon be a little safer.
The Staunton fire Department has received over $180,000 to fund Operation Life Saver.
The money will be used to buy a fire and life education trailer, more than 2,000 smoke detectors for the elderly, and the remaining funds will train more staff to become fire inspectors.
