A local man has admitted to being part of criminal conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of meth and to using a firearm while dealing the drugs.
Thirty-one-year-old Moises Morejon of Harrisonburg pleaded guilty Wednesday in the U.S. District Court in Harrisonburg to one count of conspiring to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Morejon admitted that he, and others, distributed multiple pounds of methamphetamine per week. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of 56.1 grams of methamphetamine, three firearms, a digital scale and $4,797 in U.S. currency.
“This case further demonstrates the United States Attorney’s Office commitment to ridding our communities of devastatingly addictive drugs like methamphetamine,” says U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy. “Methamphetamine addiction ruins lives and this office will continue to protect the citizens of the Western District by eliminating drug dealers like Mr. Morejon from our streets.”
At sentencing, Morejon faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison and/or fines of up to $8.25 million. A sentencing hearing for this matter has not been scheduled.
The investigation of the case was conducted by RUSH Drug Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeb Terrien and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Luis Nagy are prosecuting the case for the United States.
