The Swoope Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating 30 years, and it hosted an open house for the community to see how far it's come.
Families could check out some of the station's equipment, enjoy some free food and take part in activities for the kids.
The department also wanted residents to check out its three new vehicles: an EMS response vehicle, a brush truck and a tanker.
"The vehicles are important for safety issues, newer technology, quicker responses. And the donations from the community helped fund these vehicles. Also state and federal grant money," says Capt. Nelson Mace.
The fire department was also giving out smoke detectors and 911 address signs.
Some members of the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad were also there to participate.
