Friday was the official start of a new era at Mary Baldwin College. Dr. Pamela Fox was inaugurated as the school's ninth president. The 162-year-old college held a morning procession of delegates from all across the country. Then it was on to an official induction ceremony at First Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Fox told the 700 guests that she wants Mary Baldwin to be nationally recognized as a leader in liberal education. She also noted, she's very excited to be here.
"This is a thrilling day. There are many important days and milestones in our life, but this is a very special one for me and for our college," Fox told TV-3.
She also noted, "My husband and I are so happy to be in Staunton and at Mary Baldwin College. We truly love this special place."
Fox has been on the job for the past 10 months. Friday's celebration was set to wrap up with a fireworks display over the campus.
