Two Virginia investigators are back in South Carolina to interview people involved with serial killer suspect Richard Marc Evonitz.

Spotsylvania County sheriff's Major Howard Smith says that King George County Sheriff's Captain Steve Dempsey and a state police investigator left Monday for Richland County and will probably stay there all week.

Major Smith says they're interviewing witnesses and others who knew the man who's considered the prime suspect in the slayings of three Spotsylvania County girls.

Evonitz shot and killed himself last month, three days after allegedly abducting a 15-year-old girl and raping her.

Authorities are awaiting the results of forensic tests on evidence from Evonitz' apartment before declaring Evonitz the killer of Kristin and Kati Lisk and Sofia Silva in 1996 and 1997.

He lived in the Fredericksburg area when the murders happened.
