The fund will be designated for staff, equipment and any other needs the city has in order to keep the greenway clean.

Showker had already made a commitment through this month to match any donation up to $5,000 each. The Friends of Blacks Run Greenway say the support for the greenway project has been more than they could ever imagine.

"The number of hundreds of people who've stepped forward to offer their goodwill, offer their expertise, whatever way they can," said Todd Hediinger. "It's really been overwhelming."

The friends of the Blacks Run Greenway sought endorsement of their master plan for the project from city council.

Council decided to hold off until the planning commission could review it, but all were very thankful for all of the donations made to the project.
