An attempted robbery case in Staunton is heating back up after an arrest Tuesday.

Staunton Police arrested 22-year-old Christopher Ray Chaplin Tuesday at his home on Shutterlee Mill Lane in Staunton.

It is the second arrest for a crime that took place in April.

Officers say Chaplin and four other men allegedly assaulted and tried to rob a soldier who was on leave outside of his hotel room at the Howard Johnson in Staunton.

Officers say it is sometimes difficult to track criminals down months after a crime. However, they say this arrest could lead them to the other men involved.

Officer Lisa Klein says, "There is still a lot of work to be done and you have to be open as an investigator to learn new information, and maybe finding out something you didn't know before."

Chaplin was initially arrested right after the assault, but police did not have enough evidence to charge him at that time.

They made Tuesday's arrest after a direct indictment in the Staunton Circuit Court.

A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
