North Dakota and Delaware have become the latest states where West Virginians with valid permits can carry concealed handguns.

Managing Deputy Attorney General Tom Smith says that brings the number of such states to 25, 22 of which have reciprocity agreements with West Virginia. Three states automatically recognize West Virginia permits without such agreements.

Under reciprocity agreements, West Virginia also agrees to honor the other state's concealed weapons permits.

Smith says there are probably only three or four more states where future agreements are likely.

State Police records show that about 60,000 West Virginians had concealed weapons permits in 2008.
