As the Page County Board of Supervisors works to find a home for their new animal shelter, local residents are raising money to make the new facility even better.

Members of the Page County SPCA are holding fundraisers to equip the new animal shelter with everything from office equipment to new cages. SPCA members are anxious to see the new shelter built. They say the new facility will be a major upgrade from the building that's used now.

"It's really nice looking and I think the people will be proud of what this new shelter is going to look like and it's not going to be noisy," says Shelby Jewell with the Page County SPCA.

SPCA Members have also secured a grant from the US department of agriculture. That money will be used for the new shelter, but only if a new site is chosen by the end of the month.

Board members plan to select a site at a meeting on Thursday.
