After reviewing hundreds of pieces of evidence, investigators say Richard Marc Evonitz remains a suspect in the slayings of three Spotsylvania County girls.
In the words of one investigator, "He's the hottest suspect we've ever had."
Evonitz became the prime suspect in the Virginia slayings of Sofia Silva and sisters Kristin and Kati Lisk when he allegedly abducted a South Carolina teen-ager at gunpoint last month and sexually assaulted her.
He fled before police arrived, but shot himself to death three days later after a high-speed chase in Sarasota, Florida.
Since his death, investigators have seized evidence from four homes in the Fredericksburg area where Evonitz lived during his six years here and all of the vehicles he drove.
