Emergency workers in Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro who are waiting to get a flu vaccine will have to keep waiting.

The Augusta-Staunton Health Department planned to give away 1,000 seasonal and H1N1 flu shots at Augusta Health.

Initially, the flu clinic was supposed to be open to the public, but the health department decided to limit it to first responders who still had not received the vaccine earlier this week.

Then the health department did not get enough vaccines in time, so it had to cancel that effort as well.

Health District Director Dr. Doug Larsen says the vaccine should become widely available in the next few weeks, and he expects everyone who wants the vaccine will eventually be able to get it.

The clinic has not been rescheduled.
