Valley residents hit the road on their way to Capitol Hill Thursday morning to protest health care reform legislation.
Two full buses took off from Staunton in support of Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann's call to unite and protest at noon. She says the group will walk through the halls of the Cannon, Longworth and Rayburn House Office Buildings and demand that members of Congress not pass health care legislation.
Marvin Weaver says it was a spontaneous decision, but it was a trip that had to be made.
He says, "We definitely have got a problem with our health care in this country, there's no doubt about it. The costs are out of control. It is not hard to identify problems, what is hard to get at is the solutions because people will not allow us to get at the solutions."
President Barack Obama will visit Capitol Hill Friday in an effort to persuade lawmakers to support health care reform. The overhaul proposal could go to the House floor for a vote Saturday.

Thank you for going! I had to work, but went to the 9/12 March! You are a true American standing up for our Founding Principles. Glad to know you are here fighting with me.
So glad we went to DC! Great crowd in both numbers and attitude. The media will probably try to report a small crowd with not much impact. Not!! There were easily 40,000 people there; 25 buses came from New Jersey alone. We know people came from NC, GA, SC, FL, and Texas. Everyone stayed focused on the issue, "Kill the bill". We heard remarks from a lot of Republican congressmen from the Capitol steps. They definitely heard back from the crowd: lots of signs, chants, and cheers. Now we hope the Blue Dogs and some of the thinking liberal Democrats heard as well. Yes, the health care program needs to be improved; destroying it under a massive load of debt and bureaucracy is NOT the answer.
