Police have arrested three juveniles following a lockdown at Danville Community College.

Police say the school administration initiated the lockdown Wednesday morning after someone with a gun was seen running across campus.

Police say in a news release they found that several student vehicles had been broken into and a firearm was missing.

After a report of shots fired at a nearby apartment complex, officers found the three juveniles hiding in an apartment. Police say several missing items, including the firearm, were recovered.

College spokeswoman Andrea Burney says the lockdown began about 9 a.m. and lasted about an hour and a half. She estimates about 2,000 students were on campus at the time.
