As Congress debates its health care reform bill, college students at Eastern Mennonite University got a closer look at what Congress plans to do.
Timothy Jost, a law professor at Washington & Lee University, gave the presentation Wednesday night.
He illustrated how the bill would affect students if passed.
Jost says it was an opportunity to properly educate students and clear up misconceptions without politics getting in the way.
"I really wish that people would pay attention and try to educate themselves to what in fact is in the legislation, and maybe not be so worried about day to day politics," says Jost.
According to the presentation, the bill would allow people up to age 26 be covered on their parents' insurance policy as a dependent child. The bill would also allow students who make around $18,000 a year to be eligible for Medicaid.
