The case of a triple murder in Hardy County is moving forward.

Nakia Keller and his wife Lorie Taylor, both of Rockingham County, were arrested for the crimes last month. Each of them is charged with one count of arson and three counts of murder.

Investigators say they killed Dennis "Chip" Taylor, his new wife Allaina Taylor, and Allaina's five-year-old daughter, Kaylee Grace Whetzel. Investigators also say each of the victims was shot at least once before their home was set on fire.

Lorie had a preliminary hearing on her charges Thursday in Moorefield. A magistrate sent the case to a grand jury.

During testimony Thursday, investigators gave new information about items seized from Lorie's parents' home.

West Virginia State Police Sgt. Chris Siler says a Beretta 9 mm pistol was taken from her father's house. Siler says the gun was sent to a lab late last week for testing. It's unclear if it was used to commit the crimes.

Lorie's defense attorney, Deborah Lawson, tried to argue Thursday, "There is nothing to really directly tie [Lorie Taylor] to the events at Chip and Allaina's residence."

Hardy County Deputy Brent Fertig talked about two plans found in the master bedroom of Lorie's home. Fertig called them plans of action on how to carry out the crimes.

Based on testimony at Thursday's hearing and at last week's hearing for Keller, it appears neither plan was carried out. According to Fertig's testimony, one plan called for killing Chip and taking him to Franklin. The plan called for his truck to be taken somewhere else.

According to Fertig, a second plan involved killing Chip and Allaina while their kids were at school.

Lawson argued there was no evidence that Lorie was present at the time of the murders or that she even assisted.

Hardy County Magistrate Craig A. Hose did not appear convinced. He said the note found in the bedroom was "written to be plural not singular," implying more than one person was involved in planning the murders.

During testimony, attorneys referred to an unseen "state's witness" who investigators say took photos of the victims' house.

Investigators say that witness is a 14-year-old girl.

Last week, a girl with the same description was referred to as "Jane" and was identified as a third suspect. The Hardy County Sheriff's Office has not confirmed if a third arrest has been made in the case.

Keller and Lorie's cases are scheduled to go before a grand jury February 2.

So, what is going on with this? Are these two evil freaks going to be let free? Thanks to our wonderful judicial system. (Sarcasm intended)

i agree with u guys. i dont see how someone can harm a child there are sick people out here anymore. especially ur own child knowing that u have other ones and now they all got to live without you. everybody that was in on it should be executed. i knoe if i was a lawyer i would refuse to fight for someone like that. my thouhhts and prayers go out to the friends and family of the victims. may god bless your family. and to the children that has to go without either parent now because of one person stupidity.

It has always amazed me how a lawyer can live with themselves that would actually defend these people and try to disprove such terrible sin. Shouldn't God's punishment for the defense attorney be the same for the murderers?
