State police say a car accident in Rockingham County turned into an attack. It happened along Silver Lake Road in Dayton the night before Halloween. Police say a white Toyota Camry hit another car.

After the accident, as the cars parked next to the lake, the woman whose car was hit says the other driver punched her in the face, then drove away in the Camry. The suspect is described as a man with a shaved head in his late 20s or early 30s.

Staunton Police are investigating a resident whose dog got out of a yard and bit a person on Springhill Road. The pit bull had already been declared a dangerous dog and was not supposed to be alone outside.

Augusta County deputies report that a visiting professor at Blue Ridge Community College had a laptop stolen. The Virginia Tech professor was at the Plecker Center for a conference Wednesday.

Workers at the Wal-Mart on John Wayland Highway say they caught a man trying to steal a Santa suit Monday night. The man dropped the suit as employees chased him out of the store.

A resident in Maurertown reports that someone broke into his home, while he was asleep and stole a coin jar with about $250 inside. It happened on Back Road Friday night.

State Police are looking for a stolen motorcycle. A 2008 blue Kawasaki was taken from behind a home on Donnagail Drive in Penn Laird on Halloween.
