For the first time, the Artworks Gallery at James Madison University will host a silent auction.

Pictures, paintings and other works of art will be on display for viewing and bidding through December 2.

The artwork comes from JMU faculty and students.

Half of the money raised will go to the students and the other half to the gallery.

"Arts provide a new way of seeing and a new way of processing information. And especially on a college campus, it's a nice area for people to come and just reflect and get outside of their busy weeks," says Chelsea Beroza, Artworks Gallery director.

The auction kicks off Monday at 5 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
