Jail Death

Page County deputies saw the woman alive for the last time around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

She asked for a glass of water. Deputies say she seemed to be find and there was no indication of depression.

Police are not releasing the woman's name until her next of kin is notified. She was 49 years old and from the town of Shenandoah. She was arrested Thursday night and charged with disorderly conduct.

Police say alcohol was involved. According to the medical examiner she hung herself sometime between 1:45 a.m. and 2 a.m. State Police are investigating. The woman's body was sent to the medical examiner for an autopsy.

Major Russell Montgomery says there hasn't been a death like this at the Page County Jail in several years.
