On Wednesday, the Alzheimer's Association hosted an event to honor those who currently have or have had Alzheimer's at the Daily Living Center in Waynesboro.

Local people wrote names of sisters, mothers and friends who had suffered from the disease on ornaments and hung them on a tree.

It was a heartfelt event to honor not only those with Alzheimer's but to also recognize the ones who care for dementia patients.

"A lot of caregivers feel like they're out there by themselves and alone and we're here to help them. By giving them time to rest, to go to work, caring especially for dementia can be very very stressful," says Terry Team, the director of the Daily Living Center.

Every 70 seconds, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's in the United States. November is Alzheimer's Awareness Month.
