York County officials have shot down a proposal that would have brought parasailing to the waterfront after a group of local residents criticized the plan as an assault on the area's historic atmosphere.

The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously not to approve Rudee Inlet Parasailing's proposal to operate in Yorktown at the Watermen's Museum on the York River. The decision came Tuesday after the opponents, mostly Yorktown residents, expressed their disapproval.

The county's planning commissioners had voted unanimously last month to recommend approval of the plan.

A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
