Police have confirmed the BB&T bank on State Farm Boulevard in Albemarle County, near the DMV on Pantops Mountain, was robbed Friday morning.

Police have surrounded the building and are searching the wooded areas around the bank for a suspect.

Albemarle County Police received a 911 call from the bank at 10:23 a.m. Callers told police the suspect demanded money from the tellers and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say the suspect indicated to tellers that he had a weapon, but he never showed it to anyone.

The suspect is described as a white man with brown hair and blue eyes, a dark stocking cap on his head, a white surgical mask over his face, a long sleeve blue-gray shirt, faded blue jeans, and black and brown construction gloves on his hands.

Police say the suspect ran out the front door, but they are not sure if he got in a vehicle outside the bank.

This marks the second bank robbery in the area this week. The Wachovia on 10th Street near Martha Jefferson Hospital was robbed Tuesday morning.

The suspect in that robbery is still on the loose despite aerial and K-9 searches, but there is no word of any connection between the two robberies.
