A nonprofit group's campaign to hold free medical clinics for the uninsured in three states aims to persuade moderate Democrats to support their party's health care reform efforts.
More than 800 people have signed up for Saturday's clinic in downtown Little Rock organized by the National Association of Free Clinics. A New Orleans event November 14 attracted more than 1,000 people. Kansas City, Missouri will host a clinic December 9 and 10.
It is the Virginia-based association's second such event in a month under a campaign promoted by television personality Keith Olbermann.
Olbermann says he wants the six Democratic senators holding out on reform to be forced to see just how many people need free health care.
The Senate is expected to start debating the legislation Saturday night.
