The Staunton City Hall was evacuated Friday afternoon after a carbon monoxide alarm went off.

The city fire department responded to the scene just before 5 p.m. and discovered the source was a faulty furnace in the basement of the building.

The building was evacuated to allow it to air out.

Parts of West Beverly Street and Central Avenue were closed near the building.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
