Everyday most of us get out of bed and head to work. But, imagine reporting to the same place, every day for 55 years. That’s the case for one Valley woman.
Everyday Juanita Taylor reports for work, but today she's doing it in style in a classic hot rod.
For the last 55 years Juanita has been employed at Rockingham Memorial Hospital- but today something special's happening.
“I never thought I'd be here this long,” Juanita says, “But it has been a second home to me.”
Hospital officials and co-workers came out to honor her years of service. Juanita came to the hospital in July of 1947 first working in medical records, later in staff services. And while positions have changed, her work ethic has not.
RMH’s president Carlton Melton says Juanita's life really centers around the hospital, when she's not here working she's on one of the desks volunteering or helping people. That's how she's spent her life, helping people.
Janelle Jordan, Juanita’s supervisor, says she thinks she's just a staple at our institution and it'll be a sad day when she does decide to retire.
But, this 81-year-old dynamo says she still going strong and has no plans of slowing down.
Juanita says she thinks it keeps you going and when you're doing something you like- why, it helps you a lot.
In addition to working for the hospital, Taylor also volunteers in the gift shop, works for here church and does the books for a local doctor.
