Five members of Virginia's congressional delegation are calling for sound walls to be installed along portions of the Dulles rail corridor to shield residents from the noise of a new Metro line.

Sens. Mark Warner and Jim Webb have joined Reps. Frank Wolf, Jim Moran and Gerry Connolly in pressing for sound barriers. They wrote a joint letter this week to officials overseeing the project, saying sound barriers must be part of the plan.

Neighborhood groups have complained they don't have enough noise protection from the new development. McLean Citizens Association President Rob Jackson says residents on both sides of Dulles Toll Road are worried.

State funding has been secured for some barriers, but residents worry budget cuts could cancel those plans.
