Cell phones, the subject of tugs of war between parents, teachers and students across the nation, are taking on a new role in the classroom: learning tool.

Tech savvy teachers are asking students to use their phones to record foreign language assignments, take photographs for projects and do mini-Internet searches if they have a Web browser.

That's a stark contrast to the emphasis that has been placed on prohibiting their use, often out of fear students will cheat or take inappropriate pictures then passed on to friends.

A majority of teens have a cell phone today, and with many schools unable to afford a computer for every student, teachers are starting to see them as a helpful learning device instead.

Well Joe, I am glad you are not teaching our youth. We are behind in a variety of subject areas and we are behind in technology as well. Teachers have always worked very hard to meet children's leaning needs by connecting with them on a level that engages them in learning. Using technology meets the needs of todays digital minds. Doing more with technology integration in the classroom is what will create successful learners. We are finding now that the paper and pencil children are not successful out in the workforce therefor a change is needed!

Teachers that use modern tech devices are probably to lazy to do the kind of teaching that American kids need. You cannot learn what you need if you rely on computers and calculators to do all your work. American kids are far behind in Math and Science. Most have only a limited education in History. They need to use books and do their homework using pencils and paper. Computers are a crutch that can allow you to pull up facts without actually reading a lesson and absorbing knowledge.

A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
